Malaysia Day Essays Collection #Safeguardourfuture: Call for Submissions

What does the future of Malaysia’s defence and security look like to you? Even though Malaysia has been blessed with 30 long years of peace, we continue to face various security challenges today. With evolving geopolitical trends, changing demographics and advancement of new technologies, new forms of security threats have also emerged. What do we need to do now, in order to future-proof our country?

In conjunction with Malaysia Day and the Armed Forces Day on Sept 16, Projek Pertiwi is calling on all interested Malaysians aged between 16-30 years old to submit articles related to the defence and security outlook of Malaysia. Share your thoughts with us! 

We are looking for submissions where as the author, you can articulate your vision of the future of Malaysia’s security from the perspective of the younger generation of Malaysia. You must demonstrate a strong understanding of the current challenges facing Malaysia’s defence and security sector, and be able to put forward constructive recommendations. The ability to relate to your own experience and story will be a plus point. 

You are free to choose the topics within the stated scope. However, we strongly encourage you to try to answer at least one of the questions listed in the topics guide here. If you are unsure and would like to pitch your idea first, please feel free to contact us and we will try out best to help you.

Important note:

  • You must be a Malaysian aged between 16-30 years old
  • All submissions should be between 1000-1500 words, excluding titles, headers, and references. You can submit in both English and Bahasa Melayu.
  • Deadline for submission is 5 September 2021. Earlier submissions will be considered on a rolling basis.
  • Please send your article to [email protected] along with your CV, a one-paragraph bio and a hi-res profile photo. 

Projek Pertiwi reserves the right to reject submissions that do not fit our criteria. Accepted articles might be subject to editing to suit our editorial styles, with your consent. For more about Projek Pertiwi’s in-house writing style, kindly refer to our writing guidelines.
